Boarding is an overnight stay in a pet boarding facility, usually for a minimum of one night.
If you have enabled Boarding as an area in settings, you will be able to add a boarding booking from the admin system.
Add a Boarding Booking by clicking on the BLUE Add button in the top RIGHT corner.
Choose Add Boarding from the drop down menu.
Boarding bookings require each pen to have available capacity for the duration of the booking. If you have only small gaps in different pens available for the required dates - for example at Christmas time - you could look at adding a Split Boarding Booking instead.
Boarding Fields

Customer – search for and select the customer you are making the booking for - you can search by customer name, pet name or other customer details.
- You can also create a new customer by clicking the BLUE
button.
- From there, you can also click "Add Full Customer" if you need to add additional information such as Secondary contact.
- You can also create a new customer by clicking the BLUE
- Location – select the location for the new booking (Multi-Location or Enterprise accounts only).
- Checkin – choose the date and time the booking is scheduled to check in.
- Checkout – choose the date and time the booking is scheduled to check out.
- Ignore Validation – enable this if you wish to create the booking regardless of opening hours, blocked dates, or minimum nights settings. This is not available to customers in the customer portal.

Unconfirmed – enable this if you wish to create the booking as unconfirmed - bookings made in the admin are confirmed by default and those from the portal unconfirmed by default.
- If there is a Deposit Requirement Setup that has the setting "Set Unconfirmed" on, then the checkbox will remain ticked by default when adding a boarding booking.
Boarding Pens
- Area – select the area to use for the booking for example Kennel for dogs and Cattery for cats.

Pen – select the pen to use for the booking.
- Available pens will be filtered based on the selected area, as well as the checkin and checkout dates.

Pets – select the pet(s) that will be occupying the pen.
- You can also create a new pet by clicking the blue “Add New Pet” button.

Private - If you are utilising "multiple booking" pens, which allow pets from different bookings and families to be housed in the same pen, then you can use the "Private" option. The private option makes a shared pen into a private pen. For normal pens, the private checkbox has no effect.
You can setup different pricing for private pens in pricing settings if required.
To add an additional pen to the booking, simply click on the Green+Add Pen button at the bottom of the panel.
Other Fields
- Notes - notes regarding this specific booking. You can also record notes against customers, pets.
- Personal Items - record personal items if you know items the customer will be bringing to the facility for their booking. You can also record this info on checkin and checkout.
- Calculate Distance - will tell you the distance from the Pet owners residence to your place of business. This can be allow you to see at a glance the distance involved in any taxi services selected.
- Add Extra - this will allow you to choose extras to apply from your preset list. It will automatically add the price to the Booking based on the rules for that particular extra and how many times it has been selected to apply. Extras are setup in settings > customization > extras & extra types.
Summary
A summary of the booking details including pricing and invoice line items appear on the right side of the screen on desktop or below on mobile. It will also show you the Customer's most recent previous booking all all pets ownded for reference.
Check all the settings for the booking are correct.
There is also an option to apply Tokens to the Booking before proceeding. This feature is not generally used for Boarding Bookings but is common in Daycare bookings where prepaid packages have been purchased. We will go into more detail on this in Daycare Bookings.
Saving - click the green Save Button at the bottom, this will then take you to the newly created booking and move to the invoice tab ready for invoicing if required.
