A split‑boarding booking allows you to divide an existing booking into separate parts, giving greater flexibility in how boarding arrangements are managed. This feature is particularly useful when the original booking needs to be extended beyond its initial dates or relocated to different accommodations. By splitting the booking rather than cancelling and recreating it, you can maintain accurate records, ensure continuity for the customer, and clearly display the adjusted schedule in the system.

Split‑Boarding bookings can be created in two ways: either from the customer/pet's profile and the booking, or directly via the booking scheduler.
Scheduler View – Quick Amendment
When you need to make a quick, simple amendment to an existing booking, this can be done directly from the Booking Scheduler for boarding.
Scenario
Silver the cat is booked into a large pen from the 23rd to the 28th. A new booking request has been made for Suki, an older cat, from the 25th to the 31st. As Suki requires the larger space and only a small pen is available—which remains occupied until the 24th—Silver can be moved to the small pen from the 25th. This avoids the need to adjust multiple bookings.
To move Silver’s booking, hover over the point where the booking needs to be split. Hold CTRL and click to cut the booking, then drag the second half into the available slot.
After dragging the second half of the booking into the free slot, the system will prompt you to confirm the action before the change is applied.
The booking has now been successfully moved and the change is complete.
If you need to move a split booking into a single pen, simply click and drag the booking segment into the desired pen.
Once you move the booking, the system will prompt you to confirm the action before finalizing the change.
The system will merge the split portions into one continuous booking within that pen.
| Note: This option is only available when moving the end segment of a booking. You must either have a free pen to move the full segmented section into, or use holding pens to provide the flexibility needed for relocating bookings. |
Scheduler View – Complex Amendment
When handling more complex booking changes, the Scheduler View provides the flexibility to split, move, or reassign bookings without cancelling and re‑creating them.
Scenario
The customer has requested to extend their cat Suki’s stay from the 18th to the 30th. Since the current pen is occupied between the 19th and 23rd, the booking will need to be split. During this period, Suki will be accommodated in a different pen, and then moved back on the 23rd once the original pen becomes available.
In the Booking Scheduler, select the booking you wish to amend to open its overview page.
On the booking overview page, select the Edit button at the top right to access the booking form.
Within the booking form, select the Split This Booking button top right.
The booking form will switch from the standard Boarding form to the Edit Split‑Boarding form. The pen selection dropdown will be replaced by the Edit Pen button.
Selecting the Edit Pen button opens the Booking Scheduler in edit mode, with the existing booking highlighted in green.
From here, select the additional days to be added to the existing booking.
When the booking is accepted, it will show in green. If there’s an issue with the dates you’ve chosen, the blocks will highlight in red to let you know.
Once the dates are selected click the button bottom right to accept and return to the booking form.
The dates and allocated accommodation will now show beneath the Edit Pens button.
Once the booking has been completed and the details reviewed, click to proceed.
You will then be directed to the Booking Overview page, under the Invoices / Quotes tab, where you can create an invoice or quote, and apply any necessary adjustments depending on your business procedures.
| If the booking has already been invoiced, you will need to use Invoice and Consolidate to update the existing invoice and payment amount. |
Once the booking is completed, it will display on the scheduler as jigsaw pieces, indicating a split booking.
Amending The Booking From Customer / Pet's Profile
In the customer or pet profile, open the Bookings tab and find the booking you’d like to amend. Click the blue reference number to view the booking overview, then use the Edit button at the top right to open the form in edit mode.
Proceed by repeating the steps detailed in the previous section.
