Once you’ve finished configuring your codes to map to Xero in Step 2, move on to Step 3 to begin syncing your contacts.
Press Start Syncing Contacts to begin the process. If you have several thousand contacts, please be aware that the sync may take a couple of hours to complete. You can continue using Pet Manager as normal while the sync runs in the background.

Pet Manager creates its own version of each client in Xero by adding the customer prefix number to the end of the surname, for example, “CN1”, so that every contact remains unique. This prevents duplicates in Xero, especially when clients share similar names or when multiple sites are syncing data. This behaviour also helps keep the integration clean by ensuring that Pet Manager–generated contacts are easy to identify and manage within your Xero’s contact list. |
You can view the contacts created in Xero by logging into your Xero account and selecting Contacts from the top menu. This will display all contacts, including those synced from Pet Manager.
Pet Manager will automatically places synced contacts into one of two Xero contact groups:
Pet Manager Customers - This group contains all customer records created from your Pet Manager client list. These are the clients you serve, each created with Pet Manager’s unique prefixing to avoid duplicates.
Pet Manager Suppliers - This group includes Pet Manager itself, Stripe, and any retail suppliers you create within Pet Manager. These entries help keep your financial data structured and easy to reconcile.
| IMPORTANT: Please make sure that you only update customers and suppliers in Pet Manager and not in Xero. Any changes in Xero will be overwritten as the data is updated from Pet Manager. |
