Item Types function as sub‑categories within an Area, specifying the individual spaces available under that category where bookings can be placed.
Examples
Area Type: Boarding - Areas: Kennel, Cattery - Item Types: Deluxe Room, Standard Room
Area Type: Hydrotherapy - Areas: Hyrdo Dogs, Hydro Cats - Item Types: Swim, Treadmill
This structured hierarchy keeps services organized and can carry specific pricing - set within your price lists. This ensures bookings are accurate and consistently billed.

After the pet completes its initial booking in the assessment pen, it will be automatically marked as approved. Once approved, the customer can then book their pet into any other item type. |
Exclude Maximum Pens - When enabled, this option removes the Item Type from calculations used to determine the number of Boarding or Daycare pens required per day.
Show Portal - Enable this setting to make the Item Type visible in the customer portal. When active, customers will be able to view and book the service online
Private Portal - If Items under this Item Type are set to allow multiple bookings* (e.g., pets from different families), enabling this option lets customers reserve the space privately. Additional charges can be applied to this feature through the Invoices & Prices section.
