Once your terminal is connected and Tyro POS payments have been enabled, the terminal becomes available for payment processing. You can then take payments directly through the terminal, and all approved transactions will automatically sync back to the system, ensuring accurate payment records and a smooth checkout experience.

Taking Payments
To process a payment, navigate to the invoice that requires payment. In the dropdown menu beside the View button, select Tyro Payment. Selecting this option will start the Tyro payment workflow, enabling you to complete the transaction through your connected terminal.
The amount due will be displayed in the dialog box that opens. If a deposit is required, this amount will be pre‑filled by default. You can adjust the amount manually if needed, or, if the full balance is being paid, you can select Full Amount to automatically populate the total outstanding.
Once the amount is correct, click to send the total to your Tyro terminal for processing.
After the payment is processed on the terminal, the transaction is immediately captured in Pet Manager. The invoice will update automatically, and the payment will appear in the client’s record without any manual entry required.
Tyro Refunds
To process a refund, go to the Credits/Refunds tab on the customer’s account, locate the relevant credit note, and select Tyro Refund from the dropdown menu next to the View button.
A dialog box will open. Under the Invoicing section, you’ll see the credit note reference and the total refundable amount by default. If needed, you can use the dropdown menu to select a different credit note.
You can then adjust the amount and send the transaction to your terminal. Any information shown on the terminal during the process will also be displayed here.

Note: Refunds through Tyro are limited to the total value of the original Tyro payments received from the customer. The dialog box will indicate the maximum amount that can be refunded. |

RECOMMENDATION: Only issue refunds back to the same card used for the original payment, and never refund more than the amount of the sale. A chargeback occurs when a cardholder disputes a transaction that was processed via your merchant facility. |
- The terminal will prompt for the refund password (entered by the merchant).
- After that, the customer must present their card:
- Tap, Insert and enter PIN or swipe (depending on terminal model).
- Tyro’s refund process is designed to verify the cardholder and ensure the refund goes back to the correct account.
- Even in POS‑integrated mode, the terminal still requires the cardholder’s physical card to complete the transaction.
