With the Mailchimp integration, your Pet Manager account stays in sync with your email marketing tools. Whenever a customer is added or updated in Pet Manager, their information can flow straight into your Mailchimp audience, helping you maintain up‑to‑date mailing lists for targeted campaigns.

To manage your Mailchimp integration and settings go to Settings > Integrations

or navigate to Mailchimp in the left side menu.
Mailchimp Overview
Before initiating the Mailchimp integration in your Pet Manager system, you will need to have an active Mailchimp account.
Things to Keep in Mind
When Pet Manager syncs a contact to Mailchimp, the following details are sent:
- Primary Email Address - Used as the main identifier for the contact in your Mailchimp audience.
- Customer Type - This will be created as a tag, helping you segment and target your campaigns.
There will still be a need to manually manage your contacts within Mailchimp.
- If a contact is updated in Pet Manager and their “Consent Contact” status is removed, this change must be updated manually in Mailchimp.
- If a contact’s email address is changed in Pet Manager, the new address will sync as a new contact. You will need to manually archive the old email address in Mailchimp to avoid duplicates.
- If a contact unsubscribes in Mailchimp you will need to manually update Pet Manager.
Requirements for Integration
The following information is required in order to connect your Pet Manager account to your Mailchimp account.
Mailchimp Username - This is the username you use to log in to your Mailchimp account.
Mailchimp API Key - Enter the API key that is generated in Mailchimp.
To generate an API key, follow these steps in your Mailchimp account, Only users with Managers permissions in Mailchimp will be able to generate the API key.
- Click your profile icon and choose Profile.
- Click the Extras drop-down then choose API keys.
- In the Your API Keys section, click Create A Key.
- Name your key. Be descriptive, so you know that this key is to be used for integrating with Pet manager. Keep in mind that you’ll see only this name and the first 4 key digits on your list of API keys.
- Click
- Once the key has been generated click Copy Key to Clipboard. Save your key someplace secure–you won’t be able to see or copy it again. If you lose this key, you’ll need to generate a new key and update any integration that uses it.
- Click Done.
- Paste the key into the API Key field in Pet Manager.
Mailchimp Audience - Enter the unique code generated in Mailchimp that lets Pet Manager know which audience to sync to.
- Click Audience.
- Click the More options drop-down menu, then select Audience settings.
- If you already have more than one audience, click the Contacts drop-down and choose the one you want to work with and select the More Options from there.
- This will display a table of settings, including one labelled Audience ID. Click the copy icon to copy the Audience ID to your clipboard.
To continue the Mailchimp set up, follow these steps in your Pet Manager account by going to: Settings > Integrations > Mailchimp.
- Paste the Audience ID code.
Mailchimp Sync - To enable the sync process, make sure this setting is toggled on.

Step 1 - Create Audience
Mailchimp automatically creates a default Audience when a new account is set up. This is because Mailchimp requires at least one Audience for the account to function. This default Audience is also where the initial Audience ID comes from, which is the ID you’ll use when first integrating your Pet Manager system with Mailchimp.
However, if you have more than one Audience in your Mailchimp account, it’s recommended that you create a new Audience specifically from Pet Manager. This makes it easy to identify which customers have been synced across from your admin system.
To create a new Audience in Pet Manager, simply select .
This will automatically create the audience in Mailchimp for you, naming it Pet Manager Customers. A new Audience ID will be generated and updated in Pet Manager automatically for you. Ensuring that your contacts get synced to the correct. group.

Step 2 - Sync Contacts
Once you’ve completed the integration set-up, you can initiate the synchronisation by expanding the section under Step 2 and selecting the button.
You will notice that the Last Sync date updates to reflect the moment you selected the button. After that initial action, the system will continue to sync automatically.
